Who's the founder of Astré?

Who's the founder of Astré?

Astré was founded by Muhammad Hashir Mughal, also known as Muhammad Hashir Ahmed or simply Hash.

An entrepreneur, creator, founder, actor, and singer, Hash works across fashion, business, media, and the arts. He is the Founder and CEO of Astré, a fashion house built around Japanese artistry and Western minimalism.

Outside Astré, he is known as Hash, his social media identity as a content creator and public figure, around his social handle Heyy Hash.

But the story behind Astré began before the brand had a name.

The Beginning

M. Hashir was born on 2nd September 2007 in Karachi and grew up in a Mughal family with a long connection to business.

His great-grandfather, Ahmed Ali, was a businessman and philanthropist whose business interests extended across Pakistan and abroad.

From an early age, Hash was drawn towards drawing, art, and perfection. He also developed a curiosity about how things worked and why people created them in particular ways.

His childhood interests moved between creative and technical pursuits: sketching, DIY science projects, movies, and video games.

That combination of interests would eventually become relevant to the way he approached fashion and design.

From Art to Fashion

Before Astré, Hash's creative interests existed across several forms of media.

Drawing introduced him to composition and visual detail. Movies and video games exposed him to worlds built through design, colour, characters, and atmosphere. His work as a content creator brought another understanding of visual presentation and communication.

Astré brought these interests into a fashion context.

The brand's design language developed around Japanese artistry and Western minimalism, with attention given to composition, symbolism, colour, typography, proportion, and the way a design sits on a garment.

The Anime Connection

Hash's connection with anime came later.

His first introduction to anime was in 2023, beginning with two of his favourites, Death Note and Demon Slayer.

That introduction became one of the cultural influences behind his interest in Japanese visual culture, alongside his existing interest in art and design.

Japanese culture, particularly its relationship with symbolism, typography, traditional art, and visual composition, became increasingly relevant to the direction of Astré.

Today, those references can be seen throughout the brand's work, from Japanese Kanji and zodiac symbolism to broader elements of Japanese-inspired design.

Founder & CEO

Hash's role at Astré extends beyond the name attached to the company.

As founder and CEO, he remains involved in the creative direction of the brand. Astré designs go through his final approval before publication, with consideration given to their composition, colour, proportions, typography, and overall visual direction.

The result is a fashion house shaped directly by the interests of its founder: art, fashion, Japanese culture, visual design, business, and creative media.
